Shralp Saturday season opener / sunday the 69th

yesterday was our season opener, solid bunch of guys, good ride, no break downs. we ended the ride off with a lap around the university residence park thing, there was about 30 people enjoying the evening when we came riding up on the sidewalk riding around the ring, there was some kind of dumb yoga ultimate frisbee hybrid class going on in the middle of the grassy area, the entire class turned and looked mouths wide open in amazement, one guy turned around saw me coming towards him and jumped out of the way, on the way out some kids got their cell phones out so they can show their friends how cool we are, liam gave a big kick towards him and almost got him too! I've never felt so bad ass in my life, after the we did the ring we rode down another path and off a curb to our final destination which was andrews house were we had some burgers then off to liams for the after party.

the master piece. look for it on ebay, starting bid $69,420.00

the chain came off of the chain saw so until ben fixed it we had to improvise. once that chain saw got fixed things got pretty real. no limbs lost.

this afternoon kier liam and i went to the asl pits and rode around. any weekend during the summer its full of red necks drinking coors light, ripping trucks around on the hills, shooting propane tanks and setting cars on fire. its a solid place to be,  I've never had a bad time at the pits, day or night. i once almost rolled my range rover there, pretty gnarly terrain. some cars come in, many never leave.

Clarence's

i went out to clarences yesterday afternoon in search of a WL brake plate for my front wheel and what i was hoping to be a bates p-pad. he hasn't located either yet. we got to talking and i was saying i plan i running a pea shooter front end that i have yet to straighten, right away he said i needed a new front end, i reluctantly agreed. he took me over to a pile, about 6, of VL rear legs and pulled out a stock length chrome leg and i got excited. it has a weld repair on it and is a tad bit crooked but for sure runnable, he's got the rest of the parts for it, should have them by next week.

more brass on this one then steel....

he dug up a couple seats to show me, i just couldn't think of a use for any of them so i passed, but cool none the less. two of them were "Firth" buddy seats, made in canada and only available to the canadian market, cast aluminum pans. one of them was meant for a triumph and called a "pally" seat, brits gotta be different i guess.

i did some more digging around, another vl fork caught my eye, then the rest of VL, i put a little pile together of stuff i wanted to buy and of course, i found the not for sale stuff.

floorboards i thought were pretty cool

he wanted to keep these, next trip out i gotta work on him for them.

The chopper hang out

Went to Nolan's last night to help him make some stuff for his bike, Nolan was invited to contribute to this blog but I highly doubt he's checked his email in the past year so I'll just have to post for him.
We discovered much easier way to work on your bike if you don't have a lift and also get some welds done on the under side of the frame.

Dual engine tuff guy sickles

I found a nice little write up up of an early dual engine pre unit drag bike called The Parasite.
